Introducing Kundalini Yoga and Creative Writing

The first Yoga and Creative writing session this year was in February at the Little Escape Studio in Crystal Palace.
During the workshop we read and discussed 3 poems
Golden Retrievals by Mark Doty
For Presence by John O'Donohue
Shore Songs by GS Smith (see below)
I invited people to work together to write an acrostic poem and then we practiced a Kriya (Kundalini yoga set) for Creativity as well as some meditations and visualisations to help with focus and overcoming self criticism. There were writing prompts to help everyone get stuck in and tea and snacks to support the creative energy.
Sarah and Maria both shared some lovely pieces that they had written as a result of the session.
I love the energy in both pieces, Sarah sounds literally enlightened by self discovery and Maria empowered and unstoppable! All in an afternoon's work for Kundalini Yoga of course :)
Thank you both for your generous sharing!
From Sarah Cannon
Here I am,
My hands cupped and outstretched before me,
A shining bowl of beauty,
My heart!
I offer it to you tenderly,
All that I am is contained in this light,
Seeing myself with fresh eyes,
Beaming brightly,
astonished.
From Maria Stamati- Knipe
I am the water
Cool or warm
I've been in my source for a long time
Quenching the thirst
I want to flow down the mountain
At times a trickle
But I want to cascade
Clear my path of all the sticks
Will I get to the sea?
I don't know
Maybe the earth will absorb me before I get there
But I want to flow faster
To face the new and push it out of my way
If I have to.
